:10: Industrial / Soundtrack
It can be very deceptive to assume that nothing beautiful can be found in grim darkness. Sean Forsythe is one such artist that can see past the stark and severe landscapes in life. Someone who can take depressing situations and draw inspiration from them – indeed, even transforming the dark energy into stunningly complex and subtly intricate works of art, be it through his music, photography or other media. Born in Rochester, Michigan in 1977, he continues to live and work in that area. Under the moniker :10:, he creates stirring visuals through his graphic design, art and photography. No doubt his greatest form of expression, though, is through his industrial electronic music. :10: is proficient in his sculpting of dark, ambient soundscapes with trip hop and distorted beats. He has garnered wide acclaim from his peers and online fans for his tracks, "Tso Mus" and "Apathy". In July 2006, his peers at Project5.com chose him as artist of the month for "Tso Mus" which showcased his talent and ability in using that software to compose. His music can best be described as a diverse and eclectic collection of original horror film soundtracks…with a hint of Asian influence. It is gritty, glitchy, morose, and often times scary as hell. And yet there is substantial melodic and musical content to separate it from the Goth, Horrorcore, and other Industrial genres. Remarkably, this niche genre has a following with a voracious appetite. Sean has produced several albums worth of material already and many devoted fans hotly anticipate his forthcoming indie CD simply entitled, "Gift". By his very nature, this is one artist that will continue to be fruitful in his music, as he delves into the art that is hidden in the darkness all around him.
